The Type 42 destroyer is a class of guided missile destroyers of the Royal Navy, also known as the Sheffield class after the name of the lead ship.
- A total of 14 ships of this class were built and deployed from Batches 1 to 3 as the main force of the Royal Navy's naval forces.
- Five Batch 1 ships, including Sheffield and Coventry, were deployed during the Falklands War in 1982 and shot down seven aircraft with the Sea Dart fleet air defence missile system.
- This class of submarines are propelled by a COGOG system using two types of gas turbine engines, allowing them to achieve a maximum speed of 30 knots. Their main armament is a Sea Dart Fleet Air Defense Missile System, as well as two triple torpedo tubes and a single 114 mm 55-caliber gun.
